Verget du Sud Vin de France Au Fil du Temps Rouge NV

Although this is a Verget wine, it’s produced by the great Jean-Marie Guffens when he’s down south at Chateau de Tourettes. Au fil du temps is a French expression literally meaning ‘along the thread of time’ and commonly translated ‘as time goes by.’ The name refers to way this wine is made, from multiple vintages (solera style). Guffen’s idea is that this is the best way to produce southern reds that are both more complex, and more ready-to-drink. The result is an incredible value wine.

Composed of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache from Côtes du Luberon, it’s a fragrant, supple, super juicy and gluggable, Provençal-styled bistro-red packed with dark cherry, earth, garrigue, tapenade and subtle truffley notes. The mouthfeel is juicy and tender with loads of character, pure flavours and lovely freshness. Importantly, it finishes cool and bright (it comes in below 13.5% alcohol). In short, a deliciously quirky, lip-smacking and superbly priced red from the hand of Guffens.
