His farm sits at an altitude of 600 to 800 metres, conveniently nestled next to Yutaka Nakajima of Domaine Nakajima, with whom he currently shares a cellar space.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eLike Nakajima, Tanabe benefits from a cool, drier climate that favours European varieties. His plantings include Chenin Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. His own cultivation currently yields around 1,500 bottles each year, though recent harvests show promise for the first substantial yield from his own vineyard.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eBe Crazy Merlot 2024\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003ePergola-grown Merlot, hand-harvested and gently sorted. Destemmed and wild-fermented in stainless steel with daily hand punch-downs over 17 days. Free-run and press wines aged separately in barrel for 13 months before blending. No added sulphur.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003ePure, quiet depth. A Merlot shaped entirely by altitude, patience and restraint. Production is extremely limited.
