Its origin story is as important as the wine itself.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePlanted in the early 2000s when Henri Milan intended to introduce Pinot Noir, the vineyard was instead established with Merlot due to nursery availability. Initially the fruit was blended into other wines or made into rosé, as its natural power often dominated the assemblages. Over time, and notably after a pivotal conversation highlighting the similarity of its blue marl soils to those of Pomerol, the decision was made to vinify it separately. Le Jardin was born.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe vineyard sits on blue marl soils that contribute both depth and structure, and are central to the wine's identity. Farming is organic, with a focus on managing Merlot's natural vigour in this Provençal context.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe 2021 vintage is shaped by a cooler, more classical growing season, bringing additional freshness and precision to the inherently rich material. The fruit undergoes a short five-day maceration in concrete, often with whole bunch inclusion, followed by 12 months of élevage in 500L barrels — an approach that tempers extraction while preserving aromatic purity and structure.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn the nose it is deeply expressive: black cherry, blackberry, and plum, layered with violet, graphite, dark chocolate, and truffle. There is a clear Pomerol-like aromatic register, but with a Provençal herbal and earthy edge that anchors it firmly in place.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe palate is both elegant and powerful. Medium to full-bodied with fine, silky tannins and a composed structure that frames the fruit without excess.
