Matunei Dru Vino Freisa Piedmont 2017

This Freisa comes from Monferrato, in Piemonte, and is a true expression of its place. Grown 100% organically and handled with care, it reflects the dedication of the small, hands-on estate that makes it. The vineyards sit in a quiet tension between sun, salt air, and rugged terrain, giving the wine energy and character.

Dried herbs, citrus peel, and a gentle savoury depth unfold gradually on the palate. Soft yet persistent, it lingers long after the glass is empty. A personal, almost intimate wine—shared rather than produced.

No oak influence: 10 months in stainless steel, followed by one year in bottle.

93 Points, Mike Bennie – “Loose knit but has hinges of blood orange acidity and a web of chewy tannins. Just ripe, plummy fruit character, sweet and peppery spice, a lick of salted liquorice in the mix. Holds just shy of medium weight but has density and flesh to its name. A hearty, almost gourmand experience but with that squeeze of seasoning that lifts it. I love the feeling of drinking this.”
