Passage Pinot Noir Gippsland 2025
A Gippsland Pinot Noir drawn from three distinct sites: the majority from old MV6 vines at Nicholson River in East Gippsland, planted in 1978 and dry-grown on alluvial soils; a self-farmed parcel of dry-grown Pinot Noir on the red volcanic soils of Baw Baw Shire, planted twenty-five years ago; and a third parcel of MV6 on granitic soils in West Gippsland. Together the sites bring perfume, structure and savoury complexity, offering a broad and honest expression of the region.
Each parcel was destemmed and fermented with a high proportion of intact whole berries, with gentle pump-overs and hand punch-downs throughout. The wines matured separately in French oak, including 10% new, for ten months before blending and a further three months in stainless steel prior to bottling.
