Zaccagnini Ikebana Novello Colline Pescaresi Light Red 2025
A seasonal release from Abruzzo, Cantina Zaccagnini Ikebana sits within the estate’s playful yet highly recognisable “Tralcetto” range, where the focus is on immediate, youthful drinking rather than structure or longevity.
Ikebana is a novello-style wine, made using carbonic maceration, where whole bunches of grapes ferment in a carbon dioxide-rich environment. This technique prioritises aromatic lift and soft, juicy fruit while keeping tannins very low, producing a wine designed to be enjoyed young and fresh.
The 2025 release comes from the Colline Pescaresi area in Abruzzo and is typically based on Montepulciano. It opens with bright red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, followed by hints of banana candy, sweet spice and floral lift. The aromatic profile is immediate and expressive, leaning heavily into fruit purity rather than depth.
On the palate it is light, soft and highly drinkable. The texture is smooth with minimal tannic grip, driven instead by juicy red fruit and a gentle sweetness of perception. Acidity is soft, keeping the wine easy and approachable rather than structured or serious.
A classic Italian novello in the truest sense: fragrant, early-drinking and built for immediate enjoyment rather than complexity or ageing.
