Catena Zapata Alamos Malbec Mendoza 2024
From high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza, Alamos Malbec 2024 is a generous, fruit-driven expression of Argentina's signature grape, crafted by Catena Zapata, one of the country's most influential producers and a pioneer of high-altitude viticulture in the Andes.
In the glass it shows a deep purple hue with violet edges. The nose is immediate and inviting, full of ripe blackberries, dark cherry and cassis, with soft floral notes of violet and a touch of spice and cocoa from gentle oak ageing.
The palate is plush and rounded, packed with juicy black fruit and a hint of chocolate and sweet spice. Tannins are ripe and silky, giving structure without heaviness, and the finish is smooth, fruit-forward and easy to return to.
A classic, approachable Malbec that overdelivers, carrying the pedigree of Catena in a more relaxed, everyday style. Perfect with grilled meats, roast vegetables or anything coming off the fire.
The 2024 Malbec is another fantastic value, opening with a lush, red-fruited nose accented with floral tones. The palate is remarkably tensile and high-toned, closing with a straightforward, fragrant and precise finish. 88Pts, Matthew Luczy - The Wine Advocate
