An unvintaged assemblage composed of casks from 2023 (27%), 2022 (36%), 2021 (19%), 2020 (7%), 2019 (6%), 2018 (2%), 2017 (1%), 2016 (1%) and 2015 (1%). The wine is sourced from five treasured plots within the Hoffmann family's 'Dallwitz' vineyard, including vines planted in 1996, 1995, 1994, 1927 and the oldest vines planted prior to 1912. 6,348 bottles were filled. The label artwork, titled Checkerboard, was drawn in 2023.

Little Wine #13 feels beautifully poised between youthful energy and layered maturity. With a strong contribution from the cooler and more refined 2022 vintage alongside vibrant 2023 fruit, the wine carries both freshness and depth in equal measure.

The nose opens with lifted aromatics of black cherry, wild blackberry and plum, wrapped in violet florals, cracked pepper and dried herbs. As it evolves, more savoury layers emerge, olive tapenade, earth, spice and a subtle feral edge that has become such a defining part of the Sami-Odi style.

The palate is detailed and fluid rather than dense. Fruit moves seamlessly across the palate with a natural sense of energy, framed by fine, chalky tannins that give shape without heaviness. The multi-vintage assemblage creates remarkable layering, younger components bringing brightness and lift while older casks contribute savoury complexity and texture.

There is a beautiful tension throughout the wine, balancing dark fruit richness with freshness, spice and mineral detail. Whole bunch influence quietly weaves through the wine, adding aromatic complexity and structure without dominating the fruit. The finish is long, savoury and incredibly composed, lingering with spice, herbs and subtle earthy tones.

Compared to earlier Little Wine releases, #13 feels especially refined and transparent, showing a more polished and finely etched expression of Hoffmann Dallwitz fruit while still retaining the wildness and individuality that defines Sami-Odi.
