By Farr is one of Australia's most celebrated family wine estates, established by Gary Farr in the hills of Bannockburn, Geelong, and now led by his son Nick. Few Australian producers have pursued the expression of individual vineyard sites with such dedication, producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of remarkable precision, complexity and longevity.

GC stands for Gary Charles, a tribute to Gary Farr and his more than four decades of work in Australian viticulture. This exceptional Chardonnay comes from the estate's densely planted Côte Vineyard, a collection of exposed north, northeast and east-facing slopes carefully selected for their distinct soils and growing conditions. Red and brown loams, volcanic earth, fragmented limestone and ironstone contribute to the complexity of this remarkable site.

The 2025 is a beautifully precise and elegant Chardonnay, with aromas of crushed stone, citrus zest, fresh apple and subtle saline notes. As it opens, layers of ginger, gentle cinnamon and delicate vanilla emerge, supported by beautifully integrated oak. The palate is finely textured and persistent, with remarkable purity, mineral tension and a long, sophisticated finish.

“Bright, light yellow colour; slightly green/herbal aromas of celery stalk, a suggestion of parsnip/earthy root vegetable. The wine is tight and tense, firm and has excellent concentration and vitality, oak taking a back seat. The finish is very dry, mineral and lip-smacking. This is lovely now and will cellar well for many years.”
