Benjamin Leroux's Savigny-lès-Beaune is consistently one of the great values in his range. The backbone of the 2024 comes from Aux Fourneaux in the north of the village, where Leroux works with a significant proportion of Pinot Fin, a low-yielding Pinot Noir cultivar prized for the concentration and depth it brings to the wine. The blend also includes Saucours, on the western extension of the slope near Les Hauts Jarrons.

The 2024 is bright and elegant, with brambly red fruit, savoury detail and the characteristic freshness of Savigny. Fine tannins and a gentle grip give the wine structure without taking away from its immediate charm, while there is enough depth underneath to reward time in the cellar.

A beautifully composed village Burgundy and, once again, a standout for value in the Leroux range.

“Fresh vigorous purple. The fruit has the more savoury edge of Savigny-lès-Beaune, good grip on the palate, absolutely clean fruit, perhaps not the generous feel through the middle, but some finesse. A drier finish. Drink from 2028-2031.” 87-89 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

“The 2024 Savigny-lès-Beaune Village has a light, slightly tertiary bouquet with brambly red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins. Elegant and nicely balanced, this is not a powerful Savigny but it has a lilting finish that consumers will find very appealing.” 88-90 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
