Alessandro Viola Note di Rosso 2024 Sicily

Bright ruby with a translucent edge, Note di Rosso 2024 is a delicate, unforced red from western Sicily, shaped by altitude, sea influence and a deeply minimal intervention approach.

Sourced from vineyards in Alcamo, Sicily, this cuvée is typically based on Nero d’Avola with small traditional Sicilian field components depending on vintage selection, grown in calcareous, fossil-rich soils that lend both lift and saline tension to the fruit profile. The 2024 vintage continues the estate’s focus on purity and transparency rather than extraction or density.

Vinification is carried out with a very light touch: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, gentle maceration and ageing in neutral vessels, with no fining or filtration. The intention is to preserve aromatic clarity and a sense of vineyard energy rather than structural weight.

The nose is finely perfumed and lifted — red cherry, wild strawberry and pomegranate, followed by blood orange, rose petal and a subtle Mediterranean herbal edge of oregano and dried thyme. There is a faint earthy undertone, like warm stone after sun.

On the palate, the wine is fluid and linear, with soft, almost filigree tannins and a bright, salty acidity that gives direction and freshness. The fruit is juicy but never heavy, moving into a gently savoury finish marked by spice, citrus peel and a mineral, coastal salinity.
