Ochota Barrels A Forest Pinot Noir 2025
Alright, A Forest Pinot Noir 2025. This is such a beautiful expression of Adelaide Hills Pinot.
As soon as you pour it, it feels lifted and silky. The nose is like walking through a cool forest after rain. Wild cherry, fresh raspberry, a little rose petal, and that gentle earthy note that gives it depth. There is a delicate spice there too, but it is subtle and refined.
On the palate it is light to medium weight, very elegant and fluid. Bright red berries carry through, with a soft earthy undertone and a fine mineral edge that keeps everything focused. The tannins are incredibly fine, almost powdery, and the acidity gives it energy without feeling sharp. It just glides.
What I love is how balanced and honest it feels. Nothing is pushed. Nothing feels forced. It slowly opens up in the glass and becomes more expressive with every sip.
This is from Taras and Amber Ochota’s Adelaide Hills project. Their philosophy has always been about minimal intervention, wild ferments and letting the vineyard speak. Taras had this rock and roll spirit but was incredibly precise, and that energy still carries through the wines today. It is not about big oak or power. It is about clarity, texture and place.
If you love Pinot that is vibrant, nuanced and quietly complex, this is absolutely your style. Very pure. Very Ochota.
