Martvilis Marani Orbaluri Ojaleshi 2023 Georgia
Martvilis Marani is a small family winery in Samegrelo, western Georgia, dedicated to reviving the region's indigenous grape varieties and traditional winemaking culture. Working on a small scale with minimal intervention, the estate produces wines that reflect the distinctive climate, vineyards and heritage of western Georgia.
The 2023 Orbaluri Ojaleshi is made from Ojaleshi, a rare indigenous red grape historically associated with Samegrelo. Unlike the more powerful reds of eastern Georgia, Ojaleshi is prized for its fragrant aromatics, vibrant acidity and naturally elegant structure.
A beautifully lifted red with notes of wild strawberry, sour cherry, raspberry and pomegranate, accompanied by floral aromas, delicate spice and a subtle herbal edge. The palate is bright and juicy, with refreshing acidity, gentle tannins and a savoury, lingering finish.
An intriguing and wonderfully drinkable expression of western Georgia, combining the charm of a lighter red with the individuality of one of the country's lesser-known grape varieties.
Particularly enjoyable slightly chilled.
