Jauma Why Try So Hard Chilled Red 2024

This is the kind of wine you open “just for one glass” and it turns into a long afternoon.

A playful blend dominated by Arneis and a little Grenache Gris, grown on low-intervention vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. It’s subtle in the glass with a light blush and a slight, natural haze — the kind that tells you minimal handling, maximum personality.

On the nose it’s all pink grapefruit, guava and wild strawberries, with a little floral lift and a gentle herbal edge. Fresh and expressive, but not loud.

The palate is where it really wins. Juicy, bright and dangerously easy to drink. There’s citrus pith, red berries and that soft, slightly grippy texture that keeps it interesting, anchored by lively acidity that makes you go back for another sip before you know it.

It’s playful but not simple. Fresh but not thin. The kind of wine you open in the afternoon and suddenly the bottle is gone.

Serve it chilled, put it in the middle of the table, and don’t overthink it. This is exactly what it says it is — uncomplicated, delicious and perfectly titled: Why Try So Hard.
