Massolino Langhe Nebbiolo 2023 is drawn from three distinct sources, each contributing a precise layer to a remarkably complete wine. The first comes from declassified Barolo parcels in Serralunga, bringing depth, structure, and serious Nebbiolo backbone. The second is Cascina I Maschi on the edge of Monforte, a cool, chalky site that lifts the aromatics and adds perfume and tension. The final component is a parcel in Alba on lighter sandy-clay soils, providing generosity of fruit and early-drinking charm. The blend is roughly one-third from each source, resulting in a wine of notable balance and finesse.

The 2023 vintage, marked by warmth but moderated by welcome rainfall, produced a style that is more refined and delicate than the previous year. The wine is ripe and fleshy yet remains precise, with classic powdery tannins, layered complexity, and a long, perfumed finish. Vinification is deliberately gentle, carried out in concrete with restrained extraction to preserve purity. Maturation takes place in large Slavonian oak casks for around 12 months, shorter than Barolo élevage but perfectly calibrated for Langhe expression.

This release shows a more buoyant, lifted profile, finishing with a subtle smoky, charcuterie-like nuance and a saline edge that adds drive. A benchmark example of Langhe Nebbiolo, combining drinkability with unmistakable Massolino structure and pedigree.
