This fleshy yet precise Chassagne comes from eight well-sited parcels across the village, including La Canière, Le Chêne, Les Benoîtes, Pot Bois, En Journoblot and Les Houillères. The parcels lie below the Premiers Crus except Pot Bois, which is one of Chassagne’s highest vineyards and sits above the Clos Saint-Jean. Les Houillères also deserves a callout, sitting, as it does, below Bâtard. The average age across these vines is 30 years. This is always outstanding, and the 2023 is no exception.

The wine is built from a mosaic of sites that are kept separate during élevage before final blending, allowing each terroir to contribute its own nuance while preserving a cohesive village expression. The result sits in a classic Chassagne register: a touch of mid-palate generosity balanced by underlying drive and mineral tension.

The 2023 vintage shows both breadth and precision, with a texture that is supple and slightly creamy but always anchored by a defined line of acidity. It’s a style that prioritises balance over austerity, giving early approachability without sacrificing structure.
