Marco de Bartoli Integer Zibibbo 2022
From western Sicily, Marco de Bartoli uses the “Integer” range to push native grapes into a more textural, skin-driven direction, while still keeping the focus on balance and drinkability rather than heaviness or excess.
The 2022 Zibibbo comes from old bush vines on the island of Pantelleria, where volcanic soils, wind exposure and extreme heat naturally concentrate flavour while preserving a surprising line of freshness. In the glass, it sits between golden and amber tones, immediately signalling a more expressive style of white.
Aromatically, it is lifted and complex: orange blossom, apricot, peach and ripe citrus, layered with herbs, dried flowers and a subtle spice note. There is a clear Mediterranean generosity in the fruit, but it is framed rather than inflated.
On the palate it shows real structure for a white wine. There is a gentle phenolic grip from skin contact, giving shape and texture without tipping into heaviness. Citrus oil, tropical fruit and bitter orange peel run through the core, supported by a saline, slightly savoury finish that keeps everything moving.
It sits in that interesting space between freshness and texture: more layered than a classic dry white, but not heavy or oxidative in the way some natural styles can be. A distinctly Sicilian expression of Zibibbo, shaped by sun, wind and volcanic soil, with enough grip to stand up to food and enough lift to stay highly drinkable.
