The village red 2023 Valtuille Vino de Villa comes from sandy soils on closer plots. This year it is 85 percent Mencía, 10 percent Alicante Bouschet and 5 percent other white and red varieties like Bastardo, Sousón or Estaladiña. It fermented with some full clusters in 1,000 litre vessels and matured in 500 litre barrels. It is juicy, round, harmonious and fruit driven, with freshness and elegance. It has a moderate 12.55 percent alcohol, a pH of 3.51 and 5.42 grams of acidity. 6,890 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2025. 94+ Pts, Luis Gutiérrez - The Wine Advocate.

Valtuille Vino de Villa represents the village level expression from César Márquez, sourced from sandy soils in and around Valtuille, bringing a more immediate and open knit expression compared to his single parcel wines.

The 2023 shows a vibrant and fluid style, with bright red fruit, floral lift and a supple, polished texture. The sandy soils bring finesse and drinkability, while partial whole cluster fermentation adds lift, aromatics and energy to the frame.

A very complete village Bierzo that sits in that sweet spot between purity and pleasure, offering clarity, balance and an easy sense of flow while still carrying the detail and structure that define the best modern expressions from the region.
