Das Juice Red 2023
Bright ruby with a light haze and an immediate, energetic lift, DAS JUICE Red 2023 is a chilled red built on pure drinkability — crunchy fruit, supple texture and an effortless, unforced flow.
Sourced from organic vineyards in McLaren Vale (including fruit from the Yangarra site), this is a modern Australian “lo-fi” blend that captures the project’s signature balance between fruit immediacy and savoury complexity. The 2023 release is built from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a small component of Shiraz depending on parcel composition, all handled with minimal intervention.
Winemaking is deliberately raw in approach: whole-bunch fermentation over approximately two weeks, combined with direct-pressed juice and destemmed berries, then wild fermentation and gentle handling throughout elevage. The aim is transparency rather than structure-building.
The nose is bright and lifted — redcurrant, strawberry and blood plum, edged with graphite, dried herbs and a faint spice line. The palate is all crunch and glide: juicy red fruit up front, soft tannins through the mid-palate, and a savoury, lightly grippy finish that keeps it grounded without adding weight.
A wine designed for ease without simplification — vibrant, textural and slightly wild at the edges, best served with a light chill.
