Matassa Marguerite White Roussillon 2024
Pale, slightly hazy gold with a gentle natural sheen, Marguerite 2024 is a quietly electric white from Domaine Matassa in Roussillon — a wine that moves between delicacy and wild energy, held together by pure vineyard expression.
Sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Côtes Catalanes, this cuvée is typically based on a field blend of Muscat d’Alexandrie and Muscat à Petits Grains (with possible small complementary parcels depending on vintage selection). The 2024 vintage continues the estate’s focus on freshness, aromatic clarity and minimal cellar intervention despite a warm southern landscape.
Vinification is entirely natural: whole-bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and élevage in old neutral vessels, with no fining or filtration. The aim is transparency and texture rather than aromatic control or polish.
The nose is intensely perfumed yet finely drawn — orange blossom, white jasmine and citrus zest lead, followed by ripe peach, lychee and crushed grapes. Beneath the perfume sits a distinctly Mediterranean register of fennel, wild herbs and a faint saline mineral edge.
On the palate, the wine is fluid and textural, with an interplay of aromatic lift and gentle phenolic grip. It moves from citrus and stone fruit into a lightly waxy, herbal depth, carried by bright acidity and a subtle salty tension that extends the finish.
A highly expressive, aromatic white that balances exuberance with restraint — perfumed, alive and deeply distinctive.
