Gentle Folk Scary Gully Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2024

When you bring this one up, it just feels a bit more intense and focused compared to the Village Pinot. The aromatics are deeper and more expressive, bright cherry and raspberry, but with a darker, spicier edge, like a hint of clove and a little underbrush from the forest floor. It smells alive, a bit mysterious in a really appealing way.

On the palate it’s elegant but layered. The fruit is pure and precise, juicy red berries with a touch of black cherry, and there is this lovely savoury undertone that keeps it from feeling simple. The acidity has this beautiful lift that makes the wine feel alive, and the tannins are fine but there, giving structure and a satisfying grip without being aggressive.

What stands out is how balanced it is. It feels like the vineyard is right there in the glass, cool climate freshness, that little earthiness, and a real sense of place. Gareth and Rainbo have such a light touch, letting the fruit and site speak without fuss. This feels thoughtful but not precious, expressive but still super drinkable.

It’s the sort of wine that makes you sit back and appreciate the details, that extra layer of spice or that gentle freshness on the finish. Fresh but nuanced, a little wild but beautifully composed. It feels like Pinot at its best.
