Borachio Sciacarello 2025
Arrival week of November 2nd
Borachio is the wonderfully unconventional project of Alicia Basa and Mark Warner, who founded their small South Australian winery in 2016. Having worked alongside James Erskine of Jauma and the late Taras Ochota, the pair have developed their own distinctive approach to winemaking, working with organically grown fruit, spontaneous fermentation and no added preservatives. Their wines are playful, beautifully expressive and made with a genuine respect for the vineyards they come from.
Their 2025 Sciacarello celebrates a fascinating Mediterranean grape best known for its home on the island of Corsica, where it is prized for its perfume, delicacy and wonderfully light structure. Grown in South Australia's sandy soils, the variety is perfectly suited to Borachio's love of vibrant, fresh and highly drinkable reds.
Expect fragrant red cherries, wild strawberries and raspberries, with delicate floral notes, a touch of spice and a lovely savoury edge. Light on its feet, with fine tannins and refreshing acidity, this is an incredibly charming red that benefits from a slight chill.
