François Rousset-Martin is one of the Jura's most exciting and respected vignerons, known particularly for his extraordinary single vineyard Savagnins from the historic slopes of Château-Chalon. Descended from generations of Jura winegrowers, François combines meticulous organic farming with a distinctly Burgundian approach in the cellar, allowing individual vineyards to reveal their character through long, patient élevage. His wines have become highly sought after for their remarkable purity, complexity and sense of place.

Clos Bacchus Veine Bleue comes from a remarkable vineyard near Beaumont, where Savagnin vines planted in 1976 grow on the distinctive grey marl soils of Château-Chalon. The 2021 vintage was devastated by frost, resulting in exceptionally small quantities. François produces this wine in his signature topped up style, preserving the purity of the fruit while allowing extended ageing in oak to develop extraordinary complexity.

A deeply expressive and powerful Savagnin, with aromas of ripe yellow fruit, warm spice and a fascinating smoky character reminiscent of Islay malt whisky. The palate is beautifully concentrated, with layers of savoury complexity, remarkable mineral tension and a long, persistent finish. There is tremendous depth here, yet everything remains precise and beautifully balanced. A serious wine from one of the Jura's most compelling terroirs, with the potential to develop for decades.
