Little Wine #14 is a captivating expression of old-vine Barossa Syrah, bringing together the energy of youth and the complexity that only a carefully assembled multi-vintage wine can achieve. The substantial contribution from the 2024 vintage lends vibrancy and drive, while older components add layers of texture, savoury nuance and depth.
The nose opens with lifted aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry and plum, interwoven with violet florals, cracked pepper, star anise and dried herbs. As the wine evolves in the glass, more savoury dimensions emerge, olive tapenade, warm earth, spice and subtle gamey notes adding intrigue and complexity.
The palate is detailed, fluid and beautifully composed. Dark fruit flavours move effortlessly across the palate, supported by vibrant acidity and finely woven tannins that provide structure without weight. The multi-vintage assemblage creates remarkable layering, with younger components contributing freshness and energy while older casks bring savoury depth, texture and harmony.
There is a wonderful sense of tension throughout the wine, balancing concentration with elegance and power with precision. Whole bunch influence quietly threads through the palate, adding aromatic complexity, spice and structural detail while allowing the fruit to remain the focal point.
The finish is long, savoury and persistent, lingering with dark fruits, dried herbs, spice and mineral undertones. While already immensely enjoyable with decanting, Little Wine #14 possesses considerable structure and depth, rewarding both immediate enjoyment and extended cellaring.
A deeply layered and expressive Syrah that captures the essence of the Little Wine series, ancient-vine Barossa fruit interpreted with precision, texture and remarkable finesse.
