Tenuta delle Terre Nere is a benchmark estate on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, where Marco de Grazia has spent decades exploring the remarkable diversity of the volcano's historic vineyards. The estate's single-contrada wines reveal how dramatically the character of Nerello Mascalese can change across different volcanic soils and elevations.
Santo Spirito is one of the estate's most beautiful vineyard sites, situated between approximately 700 and 850 metres above sea level. Unlike the rocky, austere soils of neighbouring contrade, Santo Spirito is characterised by deeper, softer volcanic ash soils that encourage a more generous and expressive style of Nerello Mascalese.
The 2024 offers a wonderfully fragrant bouquet of ripe cherries, red berries, rose petals and delicate spice. The palate is supple and beautifully textured, with generous fruit, silky tannins and a persistent mineral undertone.
More immediately seductive than the structured Calderara Sottana, Santo Spirito combines the elegance of Etna with remarkable depth and refinement. A beautifully expressive single-vineyard red from one of Sicily's most celebrated producers.

Founded by Pedro Vicente, Appellance grew from a lifelong passion for food, wine, and hospitality. After years working as a chef and travelling through wine regions, meeting growers and tasting wines at their source, it became clear that some of the most exciting wines never make it onto the shelves of large retailers.

We spend our time searching for hidden gems, great value discoveries, and special bottles from Australia and beyond, making them easy for you to access and enjoy.
Every wine is personally selected, carefully stored in temperature-controlled conditions, and delivered with genuine care.

We take great care in packing and storing our wines. If your order arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and we will arrange a replacement or refund where appropriate. Due to the nature of wine, we are unable to accept returns for change of mind.
