Charles Dufour Champagne Bulles de Comptoir #13

Pale gold with a dynamic, fine bead, Bulles de Comptoir #13 is a non-dosé, artisanal multi-vintage Champagne from the Côte des Bar, produced by Charles Dufour in small-scale, highly hands-on cellar conditions.

This release is based on a multi-vintage blend with a dominant recent base (incl. 2021/2020 components depending on disgorgement batch), built around Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a significant proportion of reserve wines aged in barrel and tank to build complexity and continuity across the series.

Vinification is low-intervention and parcel-driven, with fermentations carried out using indigenous yeasts and a combination of stainless steel and oak. The wine undergoes extended lees ageing in bottle, contributing texture, depth and savoury complexity. It is bottled as Brut Nature (0 g/L dosage), with no liqueur d’expédition, preserving full tension and transparency.

The nose is expressive and layered, showing citrus oil, ripe orchard fruit, quince and red apple skin, alongside toasted nuts, pastry dough, spice and a subtle oxidative complexity from barrel influence. The palate is textural yet precise, driven by chalky minerality, saline structure and a fine, energetic mousse. The finish is long, dry and highly saline, with a savoury, slightly oxidative edge typical of the Bulles de Comptoir series.

A gastronomic, boundary-pushing Champagne that sits firmly in the “grower artisan” category, prioritising complexity, texture and expression over consistency or typicity.
