Sami-Odi ‘Little Wine’ #15 Syrah NV Barossa Valley
Sami-Odi “Little Wine” #15 is an unvintaged assemblage built from a layered solera-like blend of multiple casks spanning more than a decade of material. The current release incorporates components from 2025 (43%), 2024 (24%), 2023 (16%), 2022 (9%), 2020 (2%), 2019 (4%), with a final 2% drawn from a long tail of earlier vintages including 2021, 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015. This multi-vintage structure is designed to preserve continuity, depth and aromatic complexity rather than reflect a single harvest expression.
The fruit is sourced entirely from five treasured parcels within the Hoffmann family’s “Dallwitz” vineyard, a site planted across several generations of vines dating back to 1996, 1995, 1994, 1927, and pre-1912 plantings. This extreme vine age diversity contributes both structural intensity and a distinctly layered, textural profile, with old vine material providing concentration and younger vines bringing lift and energy.
The final bottling yielded 6,387 bottles, underscoring its limited production scale.
The wine is marked by its tension between freshness and depth, with the youngest components contributing vibrancy and lift, while the older reserves provide savoury complexity, resonance and a grounding core. The result is a highly textured, evolving expression of Barossa Shiraz that prioritises continuity, nuance and aromatic layering over vintage singularity.
