The TMV Pinot Noir 2024 from Two Tonne Tasmania represents a defining wine in the journey of Ricky Evans, now in its 12th year of production. Built around fruit from the Woodlawn Park vineyard in Swan Bay, which contributes the majority of the blend, it is complemented by select parcels from Chartley Estate in Rowella and Three Wishes in Hillwood. Together, these sites form a layered expression of the Tamar Valley, combining purity, aromatic lift and fine structural detail.

The Woodlawn Park site, with its breezy maritime influence and free-draining silty soils, provides the core of vibrantly pure and concentrated fruit. Careful harvesting over multiple passes ensures optimal balance of freshness and ripeness. A small portion of whole bunches (10%) was included in fermentation to enhance aromatic complexity and spice. The wine was then matured for 10 months in barriques, with a modest proportion of new oak, allowing texture and nuance to build without overshadowing fruit expression.

The result is a Pinot Noir that is both finely detailed and deeply expressive. Aromas of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry are lifted by redcurrant brightness, layered over savoury notes of five-spice, wild herbs, leaf litter and subtle charcuterie. The palate is silky and composed, carrying a gentle maritime tension and a fine dusting of powdery tannins that extend through a long, cherry-driven finish.
