Domaine Danjou-Banessy is one of the standout estates of Roussillon, run by brothers Edouard and Benoit Danjou-Banessy. Working with old vines across the rugged landscapes around Calce, they make wines that combine Mediterranean warmth with remarkable freshness and mineral precision, farming organically on ancient schist and limestone soils.

Le Coste is a pure expression of Macabeu, grown on high-altitude schist and limestone. The combination of old vines, poor soils and altitude gives the wine concentration without sacrificing energy. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged with minimal intervention, it is bottled without fining or filtration.

White peach, lemon, pear, citrus blossom and Mediterranean herbs on the nose, with subtle savoury and mineral notes. The palate is beautifully textured, with ripe orchard fruit balanced by bright acidity and a pronounced saline, stony character. A gentle waxiness through the mid-palate leads to a long, dry finish that makes the wine particularly compelling with food. Macabeu at its most serious.
