Jean-François Ganevat is one of the defining figures of modern Jura wine. Over the past two decades, his wines have become some of the most sought-after in the region, celebrated for their extraordinary precision, individuality and ability to express the character of their origins. A 14th-generation vigneron, Ganevat farms an extraordinary collection of small plots, working biodynamically and taking an almost obsessive approach to each parcel. His wines have a Burgundian finesse, but their energy, savoury character and wildness remain unmistakably Jura.

J’en Veux Encore is a particularly joyous expression of his work. The 2024 cuvée brings together Gamay from Fleurie in Beaujolais with old indigenous Jura varieties, an unusual combination that feels completely natural in Ganevat’s hands. The fruit is given a semi-carbonic maceration at 12–14°C, encouraging vibrant aromatics and supple tannins, before being aged for 18 months in seasoned foudre.

It is all about freshness, perfume and drinkability. Crunchy raspberry, wild strawberry and cranberry lead the way, with subtle notes of white pepper and fresh herbs adding a savoury, lifted edge. The palate is supple and energetic, with bright acidity, fine tannins and a wonderfully juicy finish.

This is the more immediate, playful side of Ganevat, but there is plenty of substance beneath the surface. It has the generosity of Gamay, the wild herbal character of Jura and the precision that makes Ganevat’s wines so compelling. Light on its feet, seriously expressive and dangerously easy to drink — J’en Veux Encore is a wine that lives up to its name.
