Anne & Jean-François Ganevat Le P'tiot Roukin 2023 Magnum
Jean-François Ganevat is one of the Jura’s most revered vignerons, a 14th-generation grower whose wines have become cult references for their precision, individuality and sheer drinkability. Working biodynamically across an extraordinary collection of small parcels, Ganevat combines meticulous vineyard work with a minimalist approach in the cellar. His wines have a Burgundian finesse, but retain the freshness, energy and unmistakable character of the Jura.
Le P’tiot Roukin is a Vin de France Rouge that brings together Gamay from Fleurie, Pinot Noir from Alsace and ancient Jura varieties. It is a wonderfully expressive example of Ganevat’s ability to blend grapes from different origins into a wine that feels completely harmonious, while remaining outside the traditional appellation system.
The fruit undergoes a semi-carbonic maceration at 12–14°C, followed by 18 months in seasoned foudre, with no additions. This gentle, low-intervention approach allows the fruit to remain front and centre, while the extended élevage builds texture and depth.
Generous, fruit-driven and highly versatile, the wine shows black cherry and ripe plum, with gentle spice and earthy undertones adding complexity. The palate is supple and juicy, with soft tannins and enough freshness to keep the generous fruit beautifully balanced.
Presented in magnum, the larger format is particularly well suited to extended cellaring, allowing the wine to develop additional complexity and savoury character over time.
Generous, vibrant and effortlessly drinkable, Le P’tiot Roukin is a perfect Ganevat red for the table — and the magnum makes it even better suited to sharing.
