Anne & Jean-François Ganevat L'eau D'Range 2018
Jean-François Ganevat is one of the Jura's most revered vignerons, a 14th-generation grower whose wines have become cult references for their precision, individuality and extraordinary drinkability. Working biodynamically across an exceptional collection of small parcels, Ganevat combines meticulous vineyard work with a minimalist approach in the cellar. His wines possess a Burgundian finesse while retaining the freshness, energy and unmistakable character of the Jura.
L'eau D'Range is a Vin de France Blanc that blends Chardonnay and Savagnin, two of the Jura's most important white varieties, in a style that showcases Ganevat's ability to bring together different grapes and terroirs into something wholly harmonious. The name is a playful nod to the wine's colour and character.
Aged in seasoned oak with no additions, the wine is bottled with minimal intervention, allowing the natural richness and complexity of the 2018 vintage to express itself fully. The ouillé (topped-up) ageing preserves freshness and fruit while the extended élevage builds texture and depth.
The nose is expressive and layered, with ripe citrus, white peach, toasted hazelnut and a subtle oxidative complexity that adds intrigue without dominating. On the palate, the wine is rich and textural, with a creamy mid-palate, vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish that keeps everything fresh and focused.
Rich, complex and beautifully composed, L'eau D'Range is a compelling expression of mature Jura white wine from one of the region's greatest producers.
