Antonio Maçanita Rosé Vulcânico 2024 Azores
One of Portugal's most exciting winemakers today, António Maçanita has built a reputation for uncovering forgotten vineyards, championing unique terroirs and pushing Portuguese wine forward. His work across projects including Azores Wine Company and Fitapreta has earned international recognition, with Maçanita recently named Winemaker of the Year in Tim Atkin's Portugal Special Report 2026.
From the wild volcanic landscapes of the Azores comes a rosé unlike almost anything else.
The vineyards of Pico are planted directly into ancient lava stone, where vines grow in cracks of volcanic rock just metres from the Atlantic Ocean. Protected by traditional stone walls known as currais, these vines are shaped by wind, salt and the raw energy of the island.
The Rosé Vulcânico is a true expression of this extraordinary place. Bright and elegant, yet with surprising depth, it shows aromas of ripe strawberry, cherry, black pepper and a distinctive oceanic salinity. The palate is fresh, textured and mineral, finishing with the unmistakable sensation of the Atlantic.
A wine that captures the meeting point between fire and sea: born from volcanic soils, shaped by the ocean and made by one of Portugal's most visionary winemakers.
