Pertuisots lies mid-slope on the Pommard side of the appellation. Domaine des Croix farms half a hectare across two parcels: Petite Pertuisots, planted in 1971, and Grande Pertuisots, planted in 1987. Both sit on brown clay topsoils over a bedrock of Jurassic limestone, similar in character to Pommard. For Inside Burgundy enthusiasts, Jasper Morris MW holds a minority shareholding in the vineyard. Fermented with one-third whole bunches and raised with minimal new oak, the cooler, shallower Pertuisots terroir gives David Croix his most mineral Beaune Premier Cru of the vintage.

The 2023 is fine, aromatic and deeply seductive. Already delicious, it will age magnificently, as this vineyard always does. Pertuisots is one of Beaune's grand cru-quality sites, and the fact that Croix prices it at the level of Bressandes tells you everything you need to know.

Neal Martin of Vinous awarded 92-94 points, writing: "The 2023 Beaune Pertuisots 1er Cru shows a little reduction on the nose, but it is armed with pretty blueberry and raspberry fruit that blossoms in the glass. The palate is beautifully knit, pure and refined, with vivacious Morello cherries, crushed strawberries and a silky texture toward the finish. Excellent."
