Jo Perry established Dormilona in Margaret River in 2012 after nearly 20 vintages across Spain, France, America, New Zealand and Eastern Australia. While working in Galicia she earned the nickname Dormilona, or lazy bones, for failing to keep up with her team's fiesta lifestyle. In truth she was exhausted from early morning surf breaks and tireless hours honing her craft. She has embraced the moniker ever since, and went on to win the Australian Young Gun of Wine award in 2016. Minimal intervention and organic and biodynamic farming principles run through everything she makes.
Clayface is Dormilona's range of layered, savoury and mineral wines raised in Italian terracotta, flat-bottomed handmade amphorae originally made by Jo's aunty. The Chenin Blanc is hand harvested, then whole-bunch pressed directly to amphora for full natural fermentation plus malo. It rests for four months on full lees before hand bottling.
The result is a Chenin of real texture and presence: the amphora brings a gentle mineral grip and oxidative complexity, the lees time adds weight and creaminess, and the natural fermentation keeps everything alive and expressive. Margaret River Chenin at its most considered.

Appellance is a small, independent wine merchant based in Sydney, built around a simple idea: finding and sharing genuinely great wines from passionate producers around the world.
We focus on wines with soul. Wines made by real people who care deeply about what they do. Many of the bottles you'll find here are produced in small quantities, difficult to find, and chosen because we truly believe they're worth drinking.
Founded by Pedro Vicente, Appellance grew from a lifelong passion for food, wine, and hospitality. After years working as a chef and travelling through wine regions, meeting growers and tasting wines at their source, it became clear that some of the most exciting wines never make it onto the shelves of large retailers.
That's where we come in.
We spend our time searching for hidden gems, great value discoveries, and special bottles from Australia and beyond, making them easy for you to access and enjoy.
Every wine is personally selected, carefully stored in temperature-controlled conditions, and delivered with genuine care.
Most importantly, we're a small business that loves wine and loves helping people discover it. If you ever need a recommendation or are searching for something special, we're always happy to help.
Welcome to Appellance.
