Emmanuel Lassaigne has transformed the tiny village of Montgueux into one of Champagne's most exciting sources of Chardonnay. The isolated chalk hill west of Troyes is sometimes referred to as the "Montrachet of Champagne", and Lassaigne's wines have become benchmarks for this distinctive terroir.

Les Vignes de Montgueux is pure Chardonnay assembled from vineyards across the hill, giving a broad picture of the village rather than a single parcel. Lassaigne's approach is artisanal and deliberately low intervention, with the wine allowed to express the naturally ripe fruit and intense chalkiness of Montgueux.

Citrus, orchard fruit and white flowers sit over a beautifully saline, chalk-driven palate. There is generosity here, but also striking freshness and precision. A brilliant introduction to both Lassaigne and one of Champagne's most singular Chardonnay terroirs.
