Fattoria Petriolo Chianti 2024
Chianti at its best doesn’t need interpretation. Just good fruit, balance, and a clear sense of place. From the hills of Tuscany, Fattoria Petriolo is a small family estate working in the traditional heart of Chianti, where Sangiovese has always been about acidity, rhythm, and structure rather than polish or weight.
The estate follows a straightforward approach rooted in farming and restraint. Vineyards are worked with a focus on expressing the site rather than shaping it into something modern or stylised. The result is a wine that feels grounded in old Chianti character rather than contemporary interpretation.
The 2024 shows that clearly. Bright red cherry, sour plum, and wild raspberry define the fruit, with violet and a faint herbal lift in support. It feels immediate and unforced, with a crispness that keeps everything light on its feet.
On the palate it is driven by energy. Acidity carries the wine forward, giving shape and direction, while fine, slightly rustic tannins sit underneath adding grip. A subtle earthy spice note appears on the finish, keeping it firmly rooted in tradition.
It is a wine made for the table rather than contemplation. Straightforward, fresh, and quietly more structured than it first appears once the architecture shows itself.
