Frankland Estate Riesling 2025
A precise, mineral-driven expression of Great Southern Riesling from one of Australia’s most respected cool-climate producers.
Frankland Estate was established in 1988 by Barrie Smith and Judi Cullam, and remains family-owned and operated today by Hunter and Elizabeth Smith. The estate has become a benchmark for structured, age-worthy Riesling, with a strong focus on organic viticulture, site expression, and minimal-intervention winemaking. Their flagship Isolation Ridge Vineyard is widely recognised as one of the great Riesling sites in Australia.
The Frankland River subregion of the Great Southern (WA) is one of the country’s most isolated and coolest wine regions. Its ancient ironstone soils, long growing season, and consistent maritime influence produce Rieslings of exceptional natural acidity, tension, and purity. This combination of climate and geology results in wines defined more by line, texture, and mineral drive than overt fruit richness.
The 2025 vintage is highly focused and refined, showing lifted aromas of lime zest, lemon oil, white florals and wet stone. The palate is taut and linear, with flavours of green apple, citrus peel and a subtle saline edge, carried by fine, driving acidity and a long, dry finish.
Fermented cool in stainless steel with minimal intervention and brief lees contact, the wine is built in the classic Frankland Estate style: purity, restraint, and long-term cellaring potential.
