Anne & Jean-François Ganevat Poulprix 2024
Jean-François Ganevat is one of the Jura's most revered vignerons, a 14th-generation grower whose wines have become cult references for their precision, individuality and extraordinary drinkability. Working biodynamically across an exceptional collection of small parcels, Ganevat combines meticulous vineyard work with a minimalist approach in the cellar. His wines possess a Burgundian finesse while retaining the energy, freshness and unmistakable character of the Jura.
Poulprix is a Vin de France Rouge that brings together Gamay from Fleurie and Pinot Noir from Alsace, an unconventional pairing that showcases Ganevat's instinct for combining varieties and origins outside the traditional appellation framework.
The fruit undergoes a semi-carbonic maceration at 12–14°C, followed by 18 months in seasoned foudre, with no additions. The result is vibrant, fragrant and wonderfully supple, with the winemaking preserving the natural freshness and delicate character of both varieties.
The nose opens with redcurrant and cranberry, alongside crushed herbs and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is light on its feet but far from simple, with soft tannins, bright acidity and a juicy, energetic finish. There is a lovely interplay between the lifted red fruit of the Gamay and the perfume and finesse of the Pinot Noir.
Fresh, crunchy and beautifully expressive, Poulprix is pure Ganevat: unconventional, precise and dangerously drinkable.
