Il Poggio di Gavi is the estate of Francesca Poggio, a female-led property in the hills of Gavi where farming and respect for the surrounding landscape sit at the centre of the project. Francesca has progressively moved the vineyards towards organic farming, avoiding herbicides and insecticides, maintaining natural ground cover and using organic fertilisation.

Nuvole sul Poggio is 100% Cortese from a single south-east-facing vineyard on the clay-limestone hills south of Novi Ligure. The grapes are harvested by hand, fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees, preserving the freshness of Cortese while building a little extra texture and depth.

Fresh lime and bergamot lead into green apple, white flowers and delicate yellow fruit, with touches of sage, marjoram and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is bright and precise, with crisp acidity and a distinctly dry, savoury mineral finish.

A beautifully pure, characterful Gavi from a small grower with a genuine connection to the land. Fresh enough for a summer afternoon, but with considerably more personality than your everyday Gavi.
