A fascinating single-vineyard expression of Cabernet Gernischt from Ningxia, made from 20-year-old vines in the Eastern Helan Mountains. A variety with deep roots in China, here it takes on a distinctly savoury, herbal character while retaining plenty of ripe fruit and freshness.

The nose is leafy and aromatic, with dried rose, red dates, raspberry, violet, sage and liquorice, alongside subtle leather, smoke and spice. The palate is full yet remarkably refined, bringing ripe red and black fruit, fresh acidity and fine, silky tannins, with touches of toast and smoke from oak. Long, savoury and balanced, with a lovely combination of freshness, structure and elegance.
