Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV (base 2022, disgorged with extended post-disgorgement ageing) is a pure Chardonnay expression built on some of the estate’s chalkiest terroirs across Chavot and Épernay, with recent additions from the Côte des Blancs Premier Crus of Vertus and Voipreux further elevating the cuvée’s precision and depth. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically, and the geological mix—chalk, chalky clay (marl), with pockets of flint and schist—creates a dual expression of crystalline tension and subtle textural breadth.

The chalk-dominant soils drive the wine’s hallmark saline, citric intensity and linear drive, while the marl components contribute a more rounded fruit core and mid-palate presence. The 2022 base is complemented by around 40% reserve wines from the previous two vintages, building complexity and continuity across seasons.

Vinification is deliberately low-intervention and textural: primary fermentation takes place across a mix of barrique, foudre and tronconique cask, preserving both site nuance and structural depth. The wine is aged for just over two years on lees before hand disgorgement, with no dosage added, emphasising purity, tension and terroir expression rather than softness or sweetness.

The result is a sculpted, highly energetic Blanc de Blancs defined by precision and drive. Aromatically it moves through citrus peel, lemon oil, green apple and white flowers, underpinned by a pronounced chalky, saline backbone. The palate is tightly coiled yet layered, with a fine interplay between crystalline acidity and subtle phenolic grip, finishing long, focused and electrically mineral.

Now benefitting from extended post-disgorgement ageing, the latest release shows greater integration and definition, with its tension sharpened rather than softened. A benchmark Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs, combining intensity, purity and exceptional value in the grower Champagne landscape.
