Laurent Roger and Mélissa Ingrand founded Mataburro in 2017 in Rivesaltes, Roussillon, just north of the Spanish border. Working with old family vineyards and a strong Catalan identity, they produce beautifully expressive wines through early harvesting, gentle extraction and minimal intervention. Laurent's years working alongside the legendary Alain Castex remain an important influence on their approach.

Memo comes from approximately 70 year old Macabeu vines planted by Laurent's grandfather in Espira-de-l'Agly, growing on clay and rounded limestone pebbles. Remarkably, Laurent and Mélissa purchased the vineyard without initially knowing its family history.

The 2025 combines equal portions of directly pressed fruit and juice given five days of skin contact, before ageing in amphora, vat and barrel. The short maceration adds complexity and texture without turning the wine into an orange wine.

At just 11% alcohol, Memo is wonderfully fresh and lively, with bright citrus, subtle texture and a distinctly saline finish. A fascinating expression of old vine Macabeu from one of Roussillon's most interesting small producers.
