Mosse Bisou 2025

Bisou is an estate wine from the Mosse family in Anjou and has traditionally occupied the lightest, most immediately drinkable end of their red wine range. The 2025, however, has a little more depth and structure than usual — something the domaine rather appropriately describes as a "dark light red."

The blend is 50% Grolleau Noir, 30% Grolleau Gris, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Côt. Particularly ripe Grolleau Noir accounts for much of the deeper colour in this vintage. Each variety was vinified separately, undergoing between seven and ten days of semi-carbonic maceration before ageing in a combination of wooden vessels of different sizes, including foudre.

There is plenty of juicy red and darker fruit, with florals, spice and a gently earthy, savoury character underneath. The palate retains the freshness and energy that make Bisou so immediately appealing, but this release has more structure and fine tannin than you might expect.

Despite sitting at only 11.5% alcohol, there is enough depth and structure here to suggest that the 2025 could develop beautifully with some time in bottle. Equally, it is delicious now with a slight chill: vibrant, juicy and unmistakably Mosse.
