Mosse Chenin 2025
Chenin Blanc has always been at the heart of Domaine Mosse. From their vineyards in Anjou, the Mosse family have built a reputation for expressive, naturally made wines that capture both the generosity of the fruit and the distinctive schist soils of this part of the Loire Valley.
The 2025 estate Chenin comes from a particularly ripe, low-yielding vintage. The wine was fermented and aged for eight months in large-format foudres, which were regularly topped up throughout élevage. The use of foudre gives this release a little more tension and definition than usual while allowing the character of the fruit and vineyard to remain front and centre.
It is generous and fruit-forward, with ripe orchard fruit, yellow apple and citrus giving way to a more mineral and savoury side as the wine opens. Despite the ripeness of the vintage, there is excellent freshness and tension through the palate.
A subtle bitterness on the finish provides another layer of complexity and keeps the wine beautifully balanced. Ultimately, the schist soils have the final word, giving the wine a mineral backbone underneath all that ripe Chenin fruit. A serious yet wonderfully expressive release from Mosse.
