Olivier Horiot is one of Champagne's most distinctive grower producers, working organically in Les Riceys in the Aube and focusing on old vines, native varieties and minimal intervention. Les Riceys is a remarkable corner of Champagne, its clay-limestone soils and southerly exposures producing wines of unusual depth and character, quite different in temperament from the grandes marques of Reims and Épernay.

Métisse is a blend of Pinot Noir alongside the less conventional varieties of the region, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, a nod to Horiot's commitment to the full breadth of Champagne's viticultural heritage. Extra Brut in style, it is fermented with native yeasts and bottled with minimal dosage, allowing the fruit and terroir to speak without embellishment. Red apple, citrus and orchard fruit on the nose, with fine persistent bubbles, vibrant acidity and a long savoury, mineral finish.

Complex enough for serious Champagne drinkers but with the freshness and energy that make Horiot's wines so compelling. A Champagne that rewards attention.
