Pheasant's Tears Goruli Mtsvane 2021 Georgia
Pheasant's Tears is one of Georgia's most celebrated natural wine producers, founded by American artist John Wurdeman and Georgian winemaker Gela Patalishvili. Based in Kakheti, the winery is dedicated to preserving Georgia's extraordinary winemaking heritage, working with indigenous grape varieties and traditional qvevri, the clay vessels buried underground that have been used for thousands of years.
The 2021 Goruli Mtsvane is made from an indigenous Georgian white grape traditionally associated with the Kartli region. Naturally aromatic and beautifully expressive, the variety offers a distinctive combination of orchard fruit, citrus, herbal character and refreshing acidity.
A fascinating introduction to Georgia's ancient wine culture, with notes of ripe pear, quince, citrus peel and dried herbs. The palate is savoury and textured, with gentle grip, earthy complexity and a refreshing, persistent finish.
A characterful Georgian white that offers something genuinely different, particularly alongside Mediterranean food, grilled vegetables and spiced dishes.
