Pheasant's Tears Mtsvane Bodbiskhevi 2024 Georgia
Kakheti, Georgia
A beautiful expression of Georgia’s ancient winemaking heritage from Pheasant’s Tears, one of the country’s most influential natural wine producers. Founded by John Wurdeman and Georgian winemaker Gela Patalishvili, the estate is dedicated to preserving indigenous varieties and traditional Georgian techniques.
Made from 100% Mtsvane Kakhuri, sourced from the village of Bodbiskhevi in Kakheti, this wine showcases one of Georgia’s most aromatic native grapes. Unlike many of Pheasant’s Tears’ qvevri amber wines, this cuvée focuses on purity and freshness, with the fruit fermented without skin contact in a more delicate style.
The 2024 vintage is bright and expressive, offering aromas of white flowers, lime zest, peach, citrus peel and fresh herbs. The palate is elegant and energetic, with crunchy fruit, vibrant acidity, mineral freshness and a beautifully clean finish.
A fascinating introduction to Georgian wine: indigenous grape variety, authentic farming and a lighter, more refined interpretation of Mtsvane that highlights the grape’s natural perfume.
Perfect with seafood, oysters, grilled fish, fresh cheeses, herbs, Asian cuisine or simply enjoyed chilled on a warm afternoon.
