Ravensworth Regional Riesling 2025 Canberra
The Regional Riesling sits at the heart of Ravensworth’s range, a defining wine from Bryan Martin that consistently delivers character and precision. The 2025 release draws on fruit harvested early from a collection of sites including Long Rail Gully and Nanima in Murrumbateman, Briar Ridge in the Hunter Valley, and estate vineyards, bringing together a layered expression of site and season.
Handled with a light touch throughout, the fruit was hand-harvested and gently pressed before fermentation in a mix of concrete tulips, large-format oak foudre and ceramic eggs. This thoughtful combination of vessels builds texture and complexity while preserving the wine’s natural energy. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, the result is a Riesling that feels both raw and finely tuned.
Stylistically, this leans savoury and structured rather than overtly fruit-driven. Aromatics of pickled lime, preserved lemon, ginger and lemongrass lead into a palate that is concentrated yet vibrant, with notes of green apple, almond and a subtle, spicy edge. There is a distinct sense of tension throughout, finishing long, lifted and full of personality.
“This is a savoury-leaning yet scintillating riesling. It doesn’t scrimp on pickled lime, preserved lemon, ginger, lemongrass and green apple scents and then relays the same in concentrated flavours. Green almond calls in, a little jalapeño and white balsamic lift too. Intense, vibrant, exceptional persistence and heaps of character.”

A compelling expression of modern Australian Riesling, shaped as much by texture and detail as it is by freshness and drive.
