Toolangi Vineyard is a long-established Dixon's Creek property, first planted in 1995 and now spanning 11.2 hectares on well-drained, gently sloping land with a coveted north-east orientation, adjacent to the Toolangi State Forest. The vineyard's fruit was historically sought after by some of Australia's finest winemakers, including Rick Kinzbrunner of Giaconda. In 2017, Helmut Konecsny purchased the estate and brought winemaker Kaspar Hermann on board, along with experienced viticulturist John Evans, whose two decades in the Yarra Valley have been instrumental in the vineyard's ongoing regeneration. Toolangi was also one of only two Yarra producers to engage renowned soil scientist Claude Bourguignon, whose recommendations have guided the transition to under-vine cultivation and a significant reduction of inputs.

Kaspar Hermann is now coming up on eight years at the helm, steering the winemaking towards a less worked style that allows the place and vintage to dictate the result. His CV includes eight years as assistant winemaker at Mount Mary, as well as stints at Seville Estate, Coldstream Hills and Punch. The result is a distinctive and cohesive identity rooted in the vineyard's own character rather than any imposed style.

The 2025 Pinot Noir is drawn from 22-year-old vines, picked over two days in the third week of March. It was partially destemmed and fermented as whole berries with 10% whole bunches included, then pressed to oak (10% new) for nine months of maturation. Vibrant and pure-fruited, with textural finesse and the quiet elegance that has become Toolangi's signature.
